Why Future Networks?
5G has promised us ultralow latency and record-breaking data speeds, which will enable advances in everything from small cell research to virtual reality applications. This technology will create tremendous opportunities for growth, but it won't stop there. That is why the IEEE Future Networks Initiative aims to pave a clear path through the development and deployment of 5G and the great potential it enables, while still envisioning the landscape of connectivity and applications beyond 5G. For now, you can get an overview of 5G here.
The IEEE Difference
IEEE and its members inspire a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow through its more than 423,000 members in over 160 countries, and its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. IEEE is the trusted “voice” for engineering, computing, and technology information around the globe.

The IEEE Future Networks Initiative is the central hub for all things IEEE 5G and beyond. The broad nature of future networking lends itself to playing a critical role in several societies and organizations within IEEE. As such, several other IEEE organizational units have been putting out 5G and beyond content here and there as it relates to their sector of technology. The IEEE Future Networks Initiative has compiled a list of these offerings and are proud to present you with one singular location in which you can see what the whole of IEEE has to say about 5G and beyond. Check out the list of additional materials here
We have selected a group high quality conferences from all over the globe which aim to bring researchers from industry, academia and research to exchange their vision as well as their achieved advances towards 5G and beyond, and to encourage innovative cross-domain studies, research, early deployment and large scale pilot showcases that address the challenges of future networks.
